Our Story
An off shoot of SVJR a vintage jewelry rental company; EQ Stockpins was inspired when the owner of the SVJR gifted her horse trainer with a vintage pin for her stock tie.
The horse trainer loved the pin, as was incredibly elegant, brilliantly cut multifaceted and hand crafted.
The pin had history as it was crafted by one of the famous vintage costume jewelry designers of the 30s, 40s and 50s.
Her trainer suggested these pins be made available to other equestrians since they are so unique.
A lot of research goes into finding the right pins. Each must be elegant, unique and appropriate for the show arena.
Style & Quality
Today Stock pins have become an accessory to showcase a rider’s sense of style.
EQ Stockpins offers a variety of stock tie pins for dressage riders, 3 day event and show jumpers, EQ Stockpins caters to their clients’ style by offering high-quality vintage pieces that have withstood the test of time.
These pieces are made of real rhinestones which are a type of crystal or natural glass, originating from the European Rhine River, they reflect light better than the fake acrylic or plastic stones.
Many of the rhinestones are set in a silver rhodium setting with most all the stones being prong set.
Rhodium is a silver-white hard metal often found in platinum ores. It is the most expensive precious metal.
Vintage is not new. EQ stockpins are pre-loved and may show slight signs of wear.
A Little History on Stock Pins
The history of the stock tie is hundreds of years old. It was worn out on the hunt field, shielding riders’ collars from wind and rain. It was also used for makeshift bandages or slings for human and horse limbs alike. The stock tie prevailed through the decades, becoming a fashion statement for ladies and gentlemen in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Moreover the stocks tie and stock tie pin has become a staple in the competitive equestrian’s wardrobe.
Used in dressage, 3- day eventing and show jumping.
The pin is worn just under the knot and the pin itself historically has been minimal in design, though more elaborate styles have cropped up in recent times
